Northwest Tissue Services is committed to meeting the region's need for safe, high-quality musculoskeletal and cardiovascular tissues for transplantation. At Tissue Services, all tissues are placed in a regional resource inventory. Tissues are provided on a first-call, first-served basis. Product Services Coordinators are responsible for maintaining and communicating inventory availability and projected dates of distribution. As a member of the American Association of Tissue Banks, Tissue Services participates in resource sharing with other accredited banks across the U.S. and has distributed tissue to almost every state in the union and many foreign countries. Tissue Services' goal is to meet all surgery dates with its grafts or to locate tissues for clients from other AATB accredited banks.
The Product Services Coordinators distribute tissues and address any questions or concerns regarding the distribution process. A coordinator can be reached Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. PST, at (206) 292-1879 or at (800) 858-2282. A staff member is always on call outside regular operating hours to respond to emergency orders and concerns. In addition, Tissue Services technical staff is available to answer questions, offer suggestions, or discuss custom tissue needs. Tissue Services’ medical director, Dr. Ernest U. Conrad III, also can consult with surgeons regarding allograft usage.
Tissue Services provides nearly 5,000 allografts a year for transplant surgeries. More than 75 percent of the tissue for transplant is provided to patients in the region, but Tissue Services has also responded to patient needs in 44 other states and seven other countries.
